A Mega Fair Experience - A New Carnival is coming to the A.V. Fair

The new Fair dates of August 20th through August 30th were announced earlier in the year. Then, in late April, the AV Fair announced their new procedure for entering Fair exhibits on-line and the rousing Lancaster Honda concert series. And continuing the promise of exciting changes, the Fair announced, today, the signing of premier carnival company, Ray Cammack Shows (RCS). One of the largest carnival midway companies in North America, RCS will deliver an entirely new fair experience. Favorite rides vary from the slow and easy to the twisty and crazy.

New, also, is the manner in which fairgoers will access rides. The RCS FunPassTM system works like a debit card. Each time it’s scanned, the appropriate number of ride and/or game tickets, are subtracted. The ticketing system is faster, means shorter lines for rides, prevents theft and even allows a parent to review what their child is riding. FunPass electronic dispensing stations will be interspersed throughout the carnival areas on the Fairgrounds.

Part of the fair experience is testing one’s skill at the “Balloon & Dart”, “Watergun” or “Duck Pond” games. The new RCS carnival expects fairgoers to, victoriously, take home plentiful plush prizes as reminders of their fun-filled day at the Antelope Valley Fair. The RCS games are the newest in the industry with carnival spokesman Tony Fiori explaining, “Our toys are not sitting on rafters collecting dust . . . they are walking around in the arms of our guests. Many of our games are a winner, every time!”

A day at the fair also means splurging on carnival food. Cotton candy, ice cream, funnel cakes and caramel apples are all a part of the day’s sensory explosion.

AV Fairgrounds officials noted that their selection of RCS was not only based on the broad selection of rides offered patrons, but the level of detail the company applies to its operations. With safety as the number one consideration, pre-measuring small children to determine which rides they can safely ride, based on height, is an example of their attention to detail. Each small child receives a colored hand stamp which correlates to the height signs posted by each ride, to determine which rides they can enjoy.

AV Fair Marketing Manager, Wendy Bozigian, shared, “The 2009 Antelope Valley Fair is new in every way including entering exhibits on-line, choosing and printing your own concert seat tickets via on-line purchases and all the new carnival rides and games. We expect fairgoers to be surprised and delighted by the changes. Our goal remains to be the best in family entertainment and this new carnival is going to make this year’s Fair an “a-MAIZE-ing event!”
